Let's make DO IT FOR LOVE this time.

Create a papercraft project that is expresses LOVE - it can be for any occasion whatsoever!

Create a papercraft project that is suitable for a boy or a man - it can be for any occasion whatsoever!

I am Ursula from Roodepoort, now part of the metropolis of Johannesburg in South Africa, where I live with Robert my hubby of 46 years. We run a small business from home making ceramics and candles. I have crafted in some form or another for most of my life. I have tried most types of handcrafts and in 2008 started making a few cards for friends. Well that bug sure bit very hard and I have just loved every minute of my journey. Our 4 sons and their families are scattered around the world, so my passion for cards has certainly kept me busy supplying cards for the 9 grandchildren in South Africa, Netherlands and New Zealand.

CHALLENGE 24 : COMMEMORATING CHILDREN'S DAY AROUND THE WORLD

CAROL used the image "Let's Go" to make a beautiful corner bookmark and a post-it pad holder - don't you love the way the image looks so different in the two color combinations?

CHARLENE created a beautiful box for her project, and yes, it is made from scratch - Charlene even crocheted around all the components! - That's dedication! The image she used is called "Summer Ice Cream".

ELENOR created a framed picture using "Thirsty" and the colours are so vibrant that the picture would certainly be the focal point on any wall

JAN used the image "Sammy-Jo" for her birthday party theme - just look at all those different projects she created! That's out of the box thinking for you!

STARLA created the such an eye catching wall plaque using "Freckle-Faced Fairy Sitting" - isn't that such wonderful wall decor for a fairy lover?

JEN (that's me!) - I created a door sign using Dimple-faced Princess (that I will be giving to a friend's granddaughter Mariah)

First of all Mel and I would like to say a very big thank you to the current Design Team, whose last challenge it is with us today. The wonderfully talented ladies have no idea how much we appreciated their contributions over the past few months and we'd like them to know that they will be missed. Although no longer part of our DT, we hope to see them entering our challenges and popping in at the group to say hi now and again!

And although we are sad to say farewell, we are very excited to be working with a new Design Team, and as soon as the i's are dotted and the t's crossed, we'll introduce you to them. Just a few more days, and all will be revealed!

We will soon be one year old, and we are looking for a new team to work with our diverse variety of images. Please send an email to jen @ jencraft . co . za (without the spaces...) with a brief description about your yourself, your blog link if you have one, and 2 -3 examples of your best work. Please also let us know which medium you like to use. Digistamps 4 Joy has fortnightly challenges, and all we ask of you is to design an inspiration card for each challenge, post it on your blog, and comment on the challenge entries. We'd like you to be active on the DS4J group on CDAC, and participate in the various events, blog hops and challenges, etc., that DS4J is involved in. And for that we will provide you with the images and necessary support that you require. No real hard work, just a lot of FUN!

Yes, this post is an entire week late. Totally my fault. Myself (Mel) and Jen were teaching workshops at a Hobby expo over the weekend, and our Work and preparation started last Wednesday morning when I collected Jen at the airport. Honestly, I totally forgot to put up the post (am I allowed to admit that? I am human after all...), but do not worry, I will extend the challenge date by a week to allow more than enough time to get your entries in.

Challenge 12 - Flower Power

This week's challenge is a fun one... flower power - use flowers...

We'll get straight into the inspiration from our DT (I think some of them are snowed in and minus power, but we'll get theirs as soon as they're back up and with us)

We'll start with Gemma. Beautiful colours, simplistic and smart. Gemma used flower corner from our corners and borders range.

Jan used Freckle Faced Bridal Couple and kept her colours soft and pretty and imitating the bride's bouquet in the corner.

Audrey used a previous freebie - Spring Fairy and used bright flowers as her accent to finish off this cheery card.

Jenlee stuck to white with a hint of colour in Daisy Dee's hair. The white flowers in the corner are beautiful.

Challenge 11 - Scrap Lift It

This week's challenge is something a little different...

But before we get to that, you have noticed no winners have been announced for the last few challenges... Not sure what went wrong there - I seem to have lost one of the posts, and the other one... well I'll be totally honest and say, "I forgot" :/ (sorry)...
I will announce all winners in one post (and "back-date" it so it will be below this post).

Now onto this week's challenge.
Our design team have each made their own card, or scraplifted an idea / layout...
What is scraplifting? In just a few words, it's the copying of another's project - layout, colour scheme, idea etc... but in these days it is only courteous to acknowledge somebody's efforts when "lifting" their card, project, or layout.

What you need to do for this challenge is scraplift one of the DT's cards and credit them.

Here's the DT's work... Hmmmm.... which to choose to "lift"... we'll leave that up to you :)

Challenge no 10 - Button Up!!

A new year, a new design team, and a new challenge.

We're happy to welcome our 3 new design team members Jan, Linda and Kelly, and happy to have Jen, Audrey and Gemma stay on with us.

Our first challenge for this year is "button up". Fairly easy - we just want you to use buttons on your project.

You can do anything - a card, a scrapbook page... whatever takes your fancy. We'd really prefer you to use a Digistamps 4 Joy image, but it is not essential... If you have not got any of our digi's yet, be sure to check out our store here, and if you register online you'll also be able to get this cutie freebie (and I've added a little extra this month)... Registration is quick and easy.
We have many different digi's to choose from, and we're always adding new ones...

Challenge no. 8

Our design team has absolutely outdone themselves. This week's challenge entries are outstanding.

The theme: ANYTHING BUT A CARD

You can create anything, but a card, for this project. That could be a variety of things... a bookmark... a tag... a scrapbooking layout... a box... anything... as long as it's not a card.

Louise used Sammy Jo on this gorgeous gable box. So festive and jolly...

Gemma has used one of the Christmas Wreaths for this "oh so beautiful" Christmas tag...

Jen has refashioned an ordinary gift bag into something heavenly. And the gift wrap inside matches!!!

Debbie has used the Christmas tree image and used it in this matching card and box set (I wouldn't mind this for Christmas - look inside that box... my favourite ... flat backed pearls!)

Margy has used the Christmas Angel tutorial on CDAC to make this beauty. And she used a border digi on her skirt...

Audrey has made an adorable gift bag using the Angel with heart image from our store... Love the note...

Challenge 6 - Inspired by Christmas / Holiday Season

Challenge #5 - You spin me right round

Wow... another challenge, more winners, and a new format for challenge winners (see below).

Challenge winners for challenge #4 have been announced - scroll down for winners.

Now onto this fortnight's challenge. You Spin Me Right Round!!

The idea for this challenge is to incorporate circles into your project.

The Design Team went all out with this one, and they have come up with absolutely brilliant cards for inspiration.

Margy made this gorgeous easel card - bound to make anyone feel a little better when times are "ruff"... The purple and green colour combo is perfect.

Jen took the challenge literally, and made a spinner card using soccer KC and lots of little soccer balls... Some little boy is going to enjoy playing with this card!!

Louise used Fairy Friends for this cute card (and had her 10month old daughter helping her out, but you can understand why she had to get her hands on it - it's bright and beautiful).

Gemma used Funky Fairy Kelly to make this thank you card in awesome colours.

Debbie went to town with the circle theme, and did a fantastic job of it.

Audrey chose a bright pretty circle patterned paper and lots of scallops. She used the "Let's go" image from our store.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Theresa. Theresa needs no introducing around here, she's participated in every challenge we've had. Thank you for your great support "Tee"...
Theresa used the Daisy Dee image - to go perfectly with the circle theme.

Jen has made a sweet card using the cute fairy friends from our fantasy range of digi's. This really is for someone special...

Debbie has used the September freebie, Primavera along with a sentiment digi. Pretty, patterned paper and lace are the perfect combination.
And Audrey used the Gyps image from "around the world" in the striking colours of red, black and white.

Welcome to Digistamps 4 Joy. We are a fairly new digistamp company and we offer a huge variety of digistamps - you're sure to find something you'll like.

Digistamps 4 Joy was started by Me, Mel. I saw a gap in the market (mainly in South Africa), and decided to take the plunge into doing something I really enjoy. I asked my online friend, Jen, to help out with some images, and the images have been pouring out of her pencil ever since. As Jen was also playing around with digi's and not always finding the one she wanted, it was a great opportunity. And we make a great team - she does the original pencil drawing, and I digitize the images. We currently have 5 artists working on original images (and we'd be happy to invite new artists to join us - for even more variety - so if you are an artist and would like to find out more - click on the "contact us" button and pop us a mail). As far as we are aware, we are the first digital stamp store in South Africa.

Challenge # 3 Think Pink

Welcome back to our 3rd challenge.

Once again, before we get into the challenge, a huge congratulations to our winners of challenge 2 "recycle it". We saw some very innovative creations and many new ideas shared. What clever crafters!

Now onto this week's challenge, and idea from Debbie. Considering October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we decided to "Think Pink". We're offering a freebie along with this challenge.
All you need to do is think pink and create any papercraft project, focusing on pink (you do not have to use the freebies, nor do you need to focus on breast cancer, just pink).

To give you that little bit of inspiration (not that you need any), here's a look at what our Design Team made...

Debbie made this beautiful card using the "Gypsy" digi from our store, along with the "think pink" sentiment from our freebie sheet.

Gemma made her card, using an image and 2 sentiments from our freebie sheet, and repeated the hearts in her BP.

JenLee framed the image in this card and combined 2 of the freebie images, by using the "think pink" sentiment on the glittered bra top.

Louise used "Mel waving Hi" image from the Digistamps4Joy store and brought in lots of patterns. Love the embellishments.

Audrey's card is any girl's Cinderella dream. Lots of shoes (using the high heel image from our store)... and bling!

And Margy used Funky Kate from our digi store. Pretty in pink with lots of bling. She is gorgeous!

Challenge no. 2 - Recycle It!

Our next challenge is to use a recycled item. Thank you to our DT member, Gemma for the challenge idea. Whether you choose to do the card on a recycled item of choice, or use recycled items, or even recycle an object into an embellishment, all we require is that the theme of your project or card is "recycle it". Don't forget to use a Digistamps 4 Joy image to stand a chance of winning.

Gemma made a tag using a sentiment Digi (birthdays...stardust).
The buttons have been recycled from old clothing

Margy
Margy made a Christmas cracker using the flower heart stamp.
Lots of recycled items were used in this Christmas Cracker... the gold triangle trims were from a 2009 Christmas Cracker, the gold paper behind the heart from a 2009 Christmas hat, the raised clear acetate (a biscuit container), and red recycled paper

Louise
Louise made a card using the Spring stamp from the 4 seasons range of DS4J digis.
Louise used old plastic packaging for the leaves and flowers and coloured them with OHP pens.

Debbie
Debbie made a card using this month's freebie from our website, Primavera Spring Fairy.
She went for a vintage look and used old telephone directory pages and old book with stiffer pages for the butterfly.

Jen
Jen made a "Granny's Shopping List" box using "Fashion Faux Pas" from our DIVA-licious range of digi's.
An old VHS tape box has been used and it holds sheets of paper with shopping list printed on it.

Audrey
Audrey used the Hippie digital stamp image to make her card.
She emphasized on the recycle theme and used buttons from clothing and twine from one of her children's old school projects

And introducing our Guest Designer for this fortnight's challenge,
Tertia I have been a follower of Tertia's for a little while now, and she makes some fabulous projects. This is Tertia with her Granddaughter.
"I am a Christian first and foremost. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, s sister, friend and teacher. I actually love my job and there is nothing else I would rather do."

Tertia used the Giraffe with Christmas lights digi and made a card and a box.
The box has been made by recycling and old box. The sparkly wool has also been recycled - go and read Tertia's blog and find out where the wool came from...

I have over 10 years of Scrapbooking/Paper Craft experience. Scrapbooking is a real passion of mine, I feel it is important to preserve the story of who we are, where we are going and where we have been. It gives one a sense of belonging to something and reminds us that we are loved.

I cannot contain my excitement any longer... But before we get onto the challenges, I'd like to introduce you to our Design Team. Choosing the DT was not easy. We had some fantastic entries, and I wish I could've invited more.

With further ado, let's meet the Design Team (in no particular order)

Louise from New Zealand
Hi my name is Louise, I am a total colouring in fanatic. If I didn't have my 3 gorgeous children and my wonderful husband plus all the trappings that come with them, ie housecleaning, sports, cooking etc, I think I could probably spend all day colouring.

Jen from South Africa
I am a home school tutor in the mornings, crafter in the afternoons, and a wife and mom all the time.

Audrey from United States
My name is Audrey and I am a SAHM of 4 children, ages 6-11 and 2 wonderful dogs. I live in OH, USA. I am a huge animal lover. I have been crafting as long as I can remember - well over 20 years.

Debbie from South Africa
My name is Debbie Harris and I’m married to a fabulous man, Neil and am a Mom to 2 precious children - a 13 year old son, Nicholas and a 12 year old daughter, Sasha. We also have 2 precious furry children, a Shih Tzu and Yorkie. I have been stamping for 15 years and just love it!

We are starting our very first DT call.

Starting today, and running until 19 August 2010.
All applications to be received by midnight of that date (see the time left below).
The team will be contacted within 48 hours, and announced on the blog on 1 September 2010.

Your term will run from 1 September 2010 through to 31 December 2010.

We require from you:

To be able to produce least 2 cards per month using our images
To contribute towards challenge ideas
To be able to participate in blog hops
Have a well maintained and active blog
To be willing and able to submit your creations using our images to our website gallery
Previous DT work not essential

You will get from us:

A great opportunity to work with our digi stamps and work alongside other talented DT members
DT members will receive 2 free images of their choice per month from the Digistamps 4 Joy store
Your blog/website will be on the Digistamps 4 Joy blog, improving traffic to your blog, and allowing you to show off your creations to everyone who visits

CDAC Challenge #1

Join us as Crafters Digital Art Centre (digistamps4joy group) for our challenge.
The challenge is to use the freebie digi stamp (freckled faced ballerina), with pink and yellow, and some kind of thread, ribbon or lace.

The journey begins

This is a brand new venture in almost every sense of the word, but I see it more as an adventure. I hope to inspire people as well as be inspired by others.
This has been an exciting journey so far, and I hope it gets more and more exciting with each step taken...beginning with baby steps.
This has been something I've wanted to get going for a while, but took the giant leap only a few weeks ago. I "employed" the talents of some talented artists to provide a variety of images, hopefully to appeal to many people.
Here's to a new adventure where I hope to make many new friends.
